Tenet is a masterpiece of a movie, and I will be explaining why I think it's one of Nolan best concept movie.
The movie definitely needs a second time viewing, not because you wouldn't understand the film the first time but because you would be so engrossed in the world building and spectacular cinematography(kudos to Hoyte Van Hoytema), And I have to admit that the stress on practical effects really pays off when you see the movie on the big screen
So let's breakdown this movie:
1. Direction: This is one of Nolan's most engrossing, exciting movie. Period. The reason could be attributed to some brilliant cinematography and Nolan's knowledge of which scene needs what pace and the best action of 2020 makes this film an exhilarating watch.
2. Acting: Everyone shines in their respective roles, James David Washington as the stoic 'Protagonist' , Robert Pattinson providing us with humor, Elizabeth Debicki perfectly portraying a grief-stricken mother and perfectly showing the inner turmoil of her character and Kenneth Branagh showing once again his acting excellence as Andrei Sator.
3. Cinematography: This movie is the best movie of 2020 visually speaking. Period. That is due to practical sets.
4. Sound and background score: I personally didn't find any issue regarding sound mixing or background score making the dialogue inaudible. I found the score to be perfectly balanced with making some scenes tense.
Indivisual Score:
1. Directing : 10/10
2. Action : 9/10
3. Acting : 10/10
4. Cinematography : 10/10
5. Background score : 9/10
Overall Score
9.6/10
